Just Us Girls #395 - Photo Week

Nancy has chosen a beautiful photo for our Photo Inspiration Week at Just Us Girls!  This is perfect timing for me because I need to create a wedding card for our niece.

So sad to say it is our last week with Kathie Durgan, our May Guest Designer.  Make sure to leave her lots of love!  Now hop on over to the JUGS blog to see what has inspired Kathy and the rest of the Design Team!

This was hard to get a good photo of with all of the shimmer!  I added some coral mist to some shimmer cardstock and layered the die cut and embossed hearts, also from shimmer cardstock.  Layered onto a scalloped rectangle, once again from shimmer cardstock and then onto an ivory cardbase.  I had to add the light peachy color because this is for my niece's wedding and those are her colors.

Come play along with us at JUGS and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #394 - Color Week

It's Color Week at Just Us Girls and Judy has chosen an amazing color combination for us!

Come on over to the JUGS blog to see what our Kathie Durgan, our May Guest Designer and the rest of the amazing Design Team have done with these colors.

Used a dotted stencil for the background with Hero Arts Lime Green ink.  Stamped the stripes on aqua cardstock with Distress Oxide ink in Faded Jeans, love how it still looks navy.  Die cut the bow from navy and aqua cardstock and the little tag from lime green and heart from aqua.  Die cut the happy 3 times in each of these colors and layered for a shadow effect.

What do these colors inspire you to make?  Come join us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Stars for the Graduate

I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch!

And the theme from The Male Room - Stars

Stamped little stars with Brilliance Yellow ink on a white panel and also the big star.  Cut out the big star and layered onto some navy to make it stand out more.  Added some navy with stars washi tape.  Die cut the Congrats from yellow.

Just Us Girls #393 - Trend Week

It's my turn again to host this week's Trend Challenge at Just Us Girls!  There seems to be a lot of the new Distress Oxide Inks from Time Holtz backgrounds being created a
round blogland.  My challenge is to do just that, create a background with Oxide or Distress inks, or any other ink that you have to achieve a similar effect.

Kathie Durgan, our May Guest Designer is with us again this week.  Come check out the backgrounds by Kathy and the rest of the talented JUGS Design Team.

This one uses the cling wrap technique found here

This is the Magic Stencil Technique by Jennifer McGuire found here

And this one was misted Distress Oxide inks on a Teflon mat and swirled the watercolor paper into it to create the blend.  After it was dry, used a stencil to add the sunburst dashes by sponging more Oxide Ink.

Come on over to Just Us Girls and show us your backgrounds and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week and that would put you in the running for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Positively Negative

There is a fun technique for this week's challenge at The Mod Squad - Positively Negative!

Modsquad Challenge

Image is an old Gina K set - Grand Damask.  Stamped it on Dark Chocolate cardstock with Versamark and heat embossed with tan ep.  Stamped it again on Kraft cardstock with Memento Rich Cocoa.  Cut the 2 in  half and pieced together the 2 halves for the positive- negative effect.  The sentiment is also from Gina K's Elegant Florals.

Just Us Girls #392 - Word Week

The Word of the week at Just Us Girls is "Mother" chosen by our talented hostess Maria!  Perfect timing for this challenge!

I would like to welcome our May Guest Designer - Kathie Durgan!  Come see what Kathy and the rest of the talented JUGS Design Team have created with the word Mother.

Started with a piece of glossy photo paper, sponged on some Distress Oxide inks then spritzed with water to blend the colors.  Stamped the flowers with  Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick, Fired Brick and Peeled Paint.  Used a mix of stamps for the sentiment.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Birthday Flowers

I was working on a birthday card and came across this sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch!

I started with a pre-made watercolor card base and stamped the peonies from Altenew in shades of peache, pink and poppy red.  Added some colored pencil to blend the color a little more.  Masked the flowers and stamped the leaves in Memento Olive and colored with pencils.  Die cut the happy by Tim Holtz and stamped the birthday from Altenew.
