Just Us Girls #425 - Photo Week

It's the fourth week of the month and that means it's Photo Week time at Just Us Girls!  Maria has chosen a fantastic photo filled with so much inspiration.

Check out how our Guest Designer Cathymac and the rest of the JUGS Design Team were inspired by this photo.

I was inspired by the green butterfly pillow on the yellow couch and the black and white striped rug.  Stamped the diagonal stripes background stamp from My Favorite Things.  Stamped the butterfly from a really old Gina K set and colored it with Touch Twin markers then added Stickles for sparkle.  Mounted it onto a navy circle and then onto the green square and rounded the corners.  The thank you die cut is from Tim Holtz.

Now it's your turn to show us how you were inspired by the Photo.  You could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Ombre

Addicted to CAS has an ombre challenge this week.

Masked off the center of the white layer and sponged some Oxide Inks in Twisted Citron and Lucky Clover blending them together in the middle.  Stamped the flowers from Unity with Versafine Onyx.  Stamped the sentiment from Gina K with the same ink.  Layered onto a green card base.  So quick and easy, I don't know why I have avoided ombre for so long!

Thanks for dropping by!

Let Your Dreams Take Flight

Playing along in the Vintage Challenge at The Male Room.

Stamped the old time bi-plane with Memento Rich Cocoa ink onto some distressed patterned paper..  Layered in onto some Charcoal Brown Gina K cardstock and then onto some kraft with a torn edge and the notebook edge punch was used on the other edge.  Used a cracked stencil with brown ink on kraft and a piece of a paper back that has old time ads on it and a piece of houndstooth paper and inked the edges of that.  Adhered it to a parchment card base and inked those edges as well.  Finished it by stamping the sentient with Memento Espresso Truffle and cutting it apart for the placement.

Thanks for taking a closer look!

Just Us Girls #424 - Color Week

It's time for Color Week at Just Us Girls and Ina has chosen a very cool color combo for us.

Come visit JUGS to see what our Guest Designer Cathymac and the rest of the Design Team have done with these colors for inspiration.

Stamped the diagonal stripes with Hero Arts Orange Soda ink with the background stamp by My Favorite Things.  Die cut the bandaid and scalloped edge piece from Gina K Honey Mustard cardstock (it looks pretty brown/tan in this photo).  Found the piece of polka dot paper in my stash which matched these colors perfectly.  Added some Stickles to the little heart for a little sparkle.

Come show us what you were inspired to create with this color combo and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would then make you eligible at a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Being Thankful

Making some thank you cards for gifts I received and came across the challenge at TIME OUT which just happened to be "Thankful"!

Used the Faux Textured Metallic Paper technique from Jennifer McGurie.  Mask off the center of a piece of white cardstock, sponged/blended  Distress Oxide inks in Twisted Citron and Broken China then brushed on some white Perfect Pearls.  Embossed with the striped embossing folder.  Die cut the Tim Holtz sentiment from black glitter cardstock and added a couple of clear sequins and green Nuvo drops to their centers.

Thanks for dropping by!

40th Anniversary

I used the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch! to create an anniversary card for my hubby for our 40th anniversary.

I used dies from Concord & 9th.  I knew I wanted to use that striped heart die for sure.  Die cut the striped heart from Rose Red cardstock and added some pink glitter paper behind it.  Die cut the leafy heart on white and layered the two together.  Die cut the floral swag and colored with Touch Twin markers, added some Wink of Stella, some Nuvo drops and some yellow Stickles to the largest flower.  Stamped the sentiment by Mudra Stamps in Versafine Onyx and layered onto a green die cut banner.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Just Us Girls #423 - Trend Week

It's time for our Trend Week at Just us Girls and I have been seeing a lot of galaxy backgrounds/night sky creations lately; so that is what I chose to challenge everyone to try. Here is a link to Jennifer McGuire's tutorial using Distress Oxide Inks. Another version on Splitcoaststampers using watercolors. The Design Team has done an amazing job with this Trend to provide inspiration! I can't wait to see all of your beautiful starry night skies!

Come on over to JUGS to see what our Guest Designer Cathymac and the rest of the Design Team have created.

I used the tutorial from Jennifer McGuire's blog.  Sponged on various Distress Oxide Inks, then plattered some white ink and added some white gel pen dots.  I used a combination of stamps on this from Concord & 9th, Gina K and Hero Arts.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.

Just Us Girls #422 - Word Week

We're back again for another year of challenges at Just Us Girls and it is Word Week with Vicki as our hostess and it's Anything Goes!

Welcome to our January Guest Designer Cathy McCauley [cathymac]!  Come and see what Cathy and the Rest of the JUGS Design Team have created.

This was created with a heavy heart for a friend who unexpectedly lost her husband just 9 days before Christmas.  I smooshed some Distress Oxide Inks in blues on my kraft mat and dragged and pounced the cardstock through and in the ink.  When I was happy with the results and it was dry I stamped the flowers and the sentiment in Versafine Onyx ink, matted it on some black and used some blue cardstock for the base.  Very simple in technique and design.

Come play along with us and you could be chosen as our next Chic of the Week, which would put you in the running for a chance to become our next Guest Designer!  Please limit your entries to 3.
